MC will request CARM to promote in Cartagena the offer of the Center of Teachers and Resources "Enrique Martínez Muñoz" (20/07/2017)

The initiative will be presented at the next municipal plenary, which will take place on Tuesday 25 July, and aims to ensure the continuity and utility of this center abandoned by the regional government

The municipal group MC will present at the next plenary, which will be held on Tuesday 25 July, a motion to urge CARM to strengthen the offer of the Center for Teachers and Resources (CPR) 'Enrique Martínez Muñoz', located in Cartagena since The year 1992.

In this way, the councilman of the area of Culture and Heritage, Ricardo Segado (MC), will be in charge of transmitting this request, which seeks to ensure its continuity and promote its usefulness for the educational community.

Specifically, the centers were designed to improve student attendance by non-university teachers, offering them a space and resources to organize seminars and specialized working groups to develop peer learning.

Abandonment by the regional government

Segado explained that the CPR, located next to the IES Polytechnic, has been since its inauguration a reference in terms of professional updating and didactic strategies for teachers in the Region of Cartagena.

In this sense, the mayor recalled that the center is currently practically in disuse because of the lack of interest of the regional government, which has the competencies since they were transferred by the Ministry of Education and Science.

Regarding the Cartagena CPR, said Ricardo Segado, "we can indicate that currently only courses are given there because all the training is done online or face-to-face in the city of Murcia. In the same way, computer equipment has been withdrawn, Like most audiovisual material, tables, part of the library and documentation. "

"Another example of his abandonment," continued the councilman, "is the fact that he did not cover the work dismissal of his custodian when the case occurred, or that today only serves for the use of some computer technicians Which serve the centers of the area. "

IES Isaac Peral, germ of the Cartagena CPR

In the particular case of Cartagena, the germ of the CPR was in the Isaac Peral Institute.

Then, once officially created as a Teachers' Center of Cartagena (CEP) passed other dependencies such as La Milagrosa, where he shared facilities with the School of Magisterium and from where he had to emigrate by sinking the roof, or even was located in this Palace Consistorial where we are, before occupying the current building of the C / Greece.

The Cartagena CPR facilities were built ex profeso in its current location after overcoming many difficulties.

Despite this, the team headed by D. José Antonio de las Heras Millán, who was the first director of the CPR, did not faint and planned a complete needs program that was taken care of by the architect of the project, gathering first hand the demands Of teachers.

Center pointer in didactic strategies of the Shire

It should be emphasized that for many years the CPR in Cartagena has been a leader in didactic strategies and that even at its highest point came to attend the faculty of La Union, Fuente Alamo, Los Alcazares, Torre Pacheco, San Javier , San Pedro del Pinatar, as well as Cartagena itself.

Ricardo Segado has highlighted that "over time this formative tool of great value for local teachers has been languishing with the complicity of the Autonomous Community, which either ignores its existence or is letting it die slowly, while on the contrary Has strengthened the CPR located in the city of Murcia, to the detriment of the centers located in other localities of the Region that, as in the case of Cartagena, decentralized this resource now concentrated clearly in Murcia within its hoarding and dynamic usurper , Which in many other cases we have suffered. "

Finally, the municipal director of Culture and Heritage has ensured that "from MC we are pleased that the CPR 'Enrique Martínez Muñoz' is still recoverable and is in perfect condition to meet the needs of educational professionals at the time Is required, while on the contrary, we regret that this current neglect on the part of the CARM can culminate in the definitive abandonment of the building and its subsequent expolio.
