The local government, through the Area of Quality of Life directed by Francisco Calderón, has launched a tender for a project to carry out conditioning works at the Center for Reception and Treatment of Companion Animals (CATAD).

Until 25 July, interested companies can choose to award the contract for the suitability of the cheniles of the installation.

In this way, we will act on one of the factors that affect the welfare of the animals, the place where they live, ensuring the highest degree of comfort and hygiene.

At the time of the realization of the housing project, compliance with environmental parameters has been considered, taking into account factors such as temperature, relative humidity, level of ventilation, lighting and living space.

In this way, the project of conditioning the cheniles contemplates the improvement of the conditions of use, so that each one will have an area of 6 square meters, of which 3 of them will be covered, while the other 3 will be of yard.

This will enable each box to have a width of 1.5 meters from the current 2, leaving the 2 meters deep.

In turn, each individual module will be added an individual patio of the same dimensions and geometry, with each animal having 2 square meters more.

Another improvement consists in resizing the way of providing food to animals.

Thus, automatic dosing of the action through a silo with a composite hose with an auger and feeders inside the housings will be allowed.

This initiative will prevent the animals from running out of food, as a feeder with a hopper equipped with dry feed capacity will be enabled for one week.

EXECUTION TIME

The planned project has a period of execution of two months, from the day of notification to the successful bidder.

The bidding budget is 123,104.88 euros.

Remember that one of the priority objectives of the Quality of Life Area is to advance active policies that guarantee the highest level of animal welfare.

To this end, a number of initiatives have been launched, such as the launching of the Animal Welfare Bureau, a forum for participation designed for this specific purpose.

Among its more immediate challenges is the modification of the municipal ordinance referring to domestic animals.

In addition, Councilor Francisco Calderón, from his field of competence, has initiated another set of measures, such as the establishment of a canine park in the Parque de la Rosa, reinforcement of proposals such as sterilization, intensification of identification and registration control , As well as the development of awareness campaigns on responsible pet ownership.
