The Choir Polyphonic Carthagonova, directed by Pedro Andrés García, in his eagerness to channel the cultural movement of the city through the choral song, organizes with the collaboration of the Council of Festivities of the Municipality of Cartagen, the 'XXVIII Habaneras Concert in Cabo Of Palos'.

The event will take place next Saturday, July 22 at 10:30 pm in the esplanade of the car park adjacent to the lighthouse.

These concerts began in 1990 at the foot of the lighthouse, on the steps that give access to the house of the lighthouse, in a simple way, without great complications of lights or loudspeakers, with a spectacular stage behind it as is the own Building and with a full moon all over.

Thus were made the first three editions of what was called in principle 'Concert to the Full Moon of August'.

It was in these early years that the then director of the Polyphonic Carthagonova Choir, José Espinosa Pérez, after reading a poetry he had composed highlighting the image of the lighthouse as guardian of the Mediterranean, he committed himself before the audience to compose the music For that poem to become a Havana dedicated to this locality and its lighthouse.

A year later it was released with great success 'Cabo de Palos', a musical piece that has not stopped being interpreted year after year in all the editions of this concert.

This, along with the "Flor Marina", with lyrics and music by Dr. Lastra, harmonized for four voices also by Maestro Espinosa, form the final brooch of all concerts.

It is traditional in each edition to share the stage with another group from the Shire.

This time the invited group will be the flamenco duo formed by Lola Cayuela, to the cante, and José Antonio Sánchez Aarnoutse, to the guitar.

The back-to-back seafaring songs, as the Havanese are known, that the Chorale will sing, together with the flamenco singing performances, will form an unforgettable musical spectacle framed by the imposing presence of the lighthouse.

This concert, which has the collaboration of the Council of Festivities of the City of Cartagena, is in addition to the activities that are being held during the summer along the coast of Cartagena.
