Citizens celebrate that Brussels financially supports the Logistics Activities Area of Cartagena (10/07/2017)

- The spokesperson for the orange formation in Cartagena, Manuel Padín, said that "one of the main objectives of our Municipal Group definitely increases the flight, we already have the investment necessary to implement the two amendments of Citizens to regional budgets: one endowed With more than 600,000 euros to start the study of technical and economic feasibility of this logistics infrastructure, and another 500,000 euros for the transfer of the Franco Deposit of Cartagena.

The Municipal Citizens Group today celebrated that the project to create a Zone of Logistics Activities in Los Camachos has achieved European funding from the call for the program 'Connects Europe' of the European Union.

The Citizens spokesman in Cartagena, Manuel Padín, said that this way "the implementation of the two amendments that Citizens submitted to the regional budgets of 2016 and 2017 is being guaranteed to fully develop the feasibility study and the transfer of the Deposit Franco to the Industrial Estate of Los Camachos ".

Manuel Padín recalled that it was in October 2015 when his Municipal Group organized the first of a series of actions to claim the ZAL Cartagena "was an unprecedented legislative offensive in regional political history that began with the simultaneous registration of a motion in Defense of this logistical structure by all the municipal groups of Citizens in the Region: Cartagena, Torre Pacheco, San Pedro del Pinatar, San Javier, La Unión, Los Alcazares, Fuente Álamo de Murcia and Mazarrón.

"Soon afterwards, and despite the fact that the then Minister of Public Works, Francisco Bernabé, publicly declared that there were no companies or groups interested in the creation of this large logistics area in Los Camachos, the Municipal Citizens Group in Cartagena organized a mobilization, in The Faculty of Sciences of the Company, an alliance of the Civil Society of the Field of Cartagena in defense and support to the ZAL, in which were present representatives of the Conservation Entity of the Los Camachos Industrial Estate, the Association of Social Graduates of the Cartagena, UGT, CCOO and USO unions, businessmen from all sectors and even attended, among others, the exalcalde of Torre Pacheco, Pedro Jiménez, and the socialist mayor of the Union, Pedro López, "explained Manuel Padín.

Finally, this political pressure resulted in two important amendments promoted by the orange formation that were approved in the Regional Assembly;

In 2016, an amendment with more than 600,000 euros to begin the study of technical and economic feasibility of this logistics infrastructure, and in 2017, another 500,000 euros for the transfer of the Deposit of Cartagena.

The local spokesperson of Ciudadanos believes that "the transfer of the Deposit to the Los Camachos Industrial Estate is the embryo of the future ZAL of Cartagena, the commitment to turn Cartagena into a great intermodal logistics node, with hundreds, perhaps thousands of associated jobs" .

Manuel Padín points out that "the declaration of intentions does not move anything, but the investment to do the project and execute it and that is what Citizens did."

On the other hand, the spokesman for the orange formation affirms that this "transfer of the Franco Deposit will have another positive effect since the lands in which it is currently will become an area of expansion to provide public spaces for the peripheral neighborhoods, something Which will be very positive because it is an area with a large demand for public facilities.
