Some thirty boats and 160 sailors meet on Thursday in the classic Cartagena-Ibiza race (20/06/2017)

Some 160 sailors embarked on 30 sailboats will participate in the XXVIII edition of the Cartagena-Ibiza Regatta Grand Trophy Star of Levante IX Pierre Delone Cup for boats ORC of equal or greater length of 30 feet, organized by the Real Club de Regatas de Cartagena (RCRC ) Next to the Sant Antoni Sant Antoni de Portmany Club, with Estrella de Levante as official sponsor.

Councilor for Sports in action, Ricardo Segado, accompanied by the General Director of Sports of the Autonomous Community, Alonso Gómez, RCRC's sailing vocalist, Humberto Martínez, the technical director of the race, Eduardo Gallego, the president of the Federation Of Sailing of the Region of Murcia, Arturo García, the commercial director of Estrella de Levante, Llallo Delgado, and Luis Pavia, representing the Maritime Captaincy of Cartagena.

This nautical event opens each year the summer season, and is valid along with two other tests for the achievement of the Spanish Championship of Height ORC.

This edition of the classic Cartagena-Ibiza regatta, of recognized prestige already among the practitioners of this discipline, has three distinct categories and an absolute winner.

The 30 registered boats will sail from the Bay of Cartagena this Thursday, June 22 at 11:00 am, in the basin of the RCRC, to conduct a tour of 170 nautical miles that will conclude on Saturday 24 with the special arrival in the port of Sant Ibizan in Sant Antoni de Portmany throughout the afternoon.

The trophy will be held there on Saturday afternoon.

Access to the dock will be free for the public to witness the exit, although from the organization it has been specified that two good points to see the passage of the sailboats will be also the Lighthouse of the Curra and the Christmas Lighthouse.
