Cartagena becomes stage for Music Day (14/06/2017)

The Music Festival returns to Cartagena for the third consecutive year.

An event that turns the city into a stage so that any musician, professional or amateur, can act in the streets and squares for anyone who wants to get closer to listening.

That is why the Department of Youth has organized a series of performances and musical events to complement the spontaneous that will be held in the spaces that will be available in different parts of the old town.

All details have been explained this morning the Councilor for Youth, Ricardo Segado and the Head of the Department of Leisure and Participation of the Department, M. ª del Mar Sánchez.

Segado has said that the event arrived in the year 2015 to Cartagena on the initiative of Angelique Medina, European volunteer of the program Erasmus + that carried out its project in the Department of Youth.

"Today, three years later, the event is consolidated as a musical meeting point that bathes the streets of our city with the vibrant sounds and rhythms of the participating artists," said the councilman, who took the opportunity to thank them for their collaboration. The Implica2 collective and, as a novelty, the European participants in the Erasmus + program.

On that day there will be a series of spaces, called Free Axis, in which any musician can play freely.

These points will be identified with a circular sticker of large dimensions with the Fiesta de la Música logo and will be located in Calle del Carmen, Santa Florentina Street, Honda Street next to the Barrio del Foro Romano, and San Sebastián Square, next to the monument To the Processionist.

At any of these points you can play freely between 19:30 and 22:30 hours.

In addition, as a novelty, this year incorporates the space 'Micro Libre', a sound equipment and a stage in the Plaza del Icue, for free use from 20:00 to 22:00 hours.

Regarding the scheduled events, the musical group 'Tambores Quillo' will start the music group that will start at 19:00 a parade through the historic center from Calle del Carmen to the Doors of Murcia, Calle Mayor, Cañón street , Calle del Aire, Calle San Miguel and will end at San Francisco Square.

At that end of the parade will begin the second edition of the Spring Pop Festival, which at the time had to be postponed and this year is integrated within the Festival of Music.

Sharabia and Liverpool groups will perform at 8pm.

This initiative has the collaboration of local bars.

On the other hand, in the Plaza Juan XXIII will take place the concerts of Punk Fiction and Los Recortables, while in the Palace Molina will perform the Choir of the Royal Economic Society of Friends of the Country and in the street Santa Florentina will act Toni the Beautiful in the Times indicated in the attached program.

Another novelty that counts on the Music Festival 2017 is 'Trovos vs Rap', organized through the Urban CT Program of the Department of Youth.

It will be held in the Plaza del Icue from 22:00 hours, and there will be a demonstration of trovos and a rap performance, with the main dish of the 'Battle of poetry', where the participants of each Styles will dialogue with a musical basis.

The Music Festival is a French project created in 1982 by the Minister of Culture Jack Lang and the director of Music and Dance Maurice Fleuret, who saw that a significant number of the young people played a musical instrument and they decided to emphasize the cultural diversity to Through artistic practices, the expression of talent, the power of Invention and creativity.

This Music Festival is the first worldwide music event (The "World Music Day") celebrated in every continent, with the participation of more than 120 countries and more than 700 cities.
