Sustainable Development presents Plan M17 for the improvement of mobility in the city (31/05/2017)

GUIDELINES FOR PLAN 'M17'

The head of the Infrastructures area, Matías Yepes, has specified the list of measures that make up the Strategic Plan 'M17', with 'some of them in progress' or 'under study for imminent implementation'.

This is a total of 20 guidelines, including the drafting of a Sustainable Urban Mobility Plan in La Manga;

Drafting of a Sustainable Urban Mobility Plan in Cartagena;

Establishment of a series of intermodal public and private transport areas for access to the historic center;

Regulation of access to restricted areas of the center;

The implementation of measures to increase the added value of public transport;

Increase of semi-uniform zones;

Putting into service of 'zones 30' (applying restricted speed in vehicles and giving priority to the pedestrian);

Improvement in the infrastructure of large roads;

Increased interconnection of cycle lanes;

The implementation of the bicycle rental system;

Establishment of a recharge network for electric vehicles;

Creation of 'supermanzanas', which entails a categorization of public roads taking into account that the 'supermanzanas' force the vehicles to turn so that the pedestrian recovers the space;

Creation of a network of deterrent car parks;

Implementation of a state-of-the-art traffic control system;

Endowment of the Municipality of a fleet of clean vehicles;

INNOVATIVE URBAN ACTIONS

Cartagena has presented its project 'AccCentrum;

The objective of this initiative is to promote the sustainability, urban attractiveness and economic development of the Old Town of Cartagena by improving the mobility of the target population groups.
