Aybar Valley enters the world in the world of calligraphy and medieval codices (31/05/2017)

The Roman Theater Museum of Cartagena will host from Friday June 2 the temporary exhibition 'Cantica Canticorum' of Valle de Aybar.

A selection of 40 works of contemporary art, the result of the encounter with the medieval manuscript of the Song of Songs of San Pedro de Roda, which was elaborated in the Scriptorium of the Monastery of Ripoll in the eleventh century, and that the artist located in the Library National of France in Paris.

The opening of the exhibition will be at 20.30.

Cantica Canticorum introduces us in the world of paper, calligraphy, books as guardians of knowledge, a personal and contemporary proposal where the artist, Mercedes Vallespín, "Valley of Aybar", fuses continent and content, from the words calligraphy of the Latin text To the literary sensations that the poem suggests to him.

Cantica Canticorum is thus the "plastic whisper" of the Song of Songs, the mystical idea of ​​symbolic and spiritual love.

The distribution of the work in the room of the Museum is ordered in four thematic blocks inspired in the verses of the singing;

That I kiss ardently, Time of the Songs, Sciptorium and Hill of the Myrrh and Incense, in them we perceive all the energy that pulsates in the biblical text interpreted by the artist.

Valle Aybar is the stage name of Mercedes Vallespín, a Carthaginian artist who has been dedicated to the art world for more than thirty years.

She graduated in Fine Arts, painting section, from the Complutense University of Madrid, deepened her engraving at the Higher School of Fine Arts of San Fernando in Madrid, focusing her creative activity on calcography, serigraphy and collage.

Created from her studio and workshop in the old dairy of Chamartín in Madrid, Cantica Canticorum comes to us, an exhibition where the artist immerses us through contemporary art in the most poetic and loving verses, which can be seen until August 28 .
