The Mandarache Project for Reader Training promoted by the Council of Youth of the City of Cartagena was honored in the awards 'The Best' awarded every two years by the newspaper La Verdad in order to publicly recognize the talent, commitment and exemplarity of projects And people with a valuable contribution to the improvement of society.
This is the first regional recognition received by the project after the distinction of the National Prize for the Promotion of Reading in 2014.
The prizes were presented on Friday, May 26 at the Auditorio Víctor Villegas de Murcia at a gala attended by the Promoter Group of the Mandarache Project, some of whose members went up to collect the prize together with three young readers participating in the recently completed edition : Were Sergio Vera, volunteer;
Clara Herrero, young author of the workshop Libreta Mandarache;
And the young Isabel Sánchez, Hache Prize reader who answered on the stage a couple of questions about his experience in the project.
The award was presented by the editorial delegate of La Verdad in Cartagena, Gregorio Mármol, who also signed an article about the project in a special 50-page issue, the magazine 'Los Mejores', which accompanied the newspaper on Saturday, Through the work and trajectory of the winners, which includes interviews, reports, photographs and, in the case of the Mandarache, two articles of opinion of writers Javier Cercas and Clara Sánchez drafted specifically for the occasion.
Along with the Mandarache the other outstanding figures and projects that saw their work recognized on this occasion by the Writing of The Truth were the researcher and professor of Optics Pablo Artal, the singer and two times Lamp Mining in La Union Encarnación Fernández and the social platform Pact By the Mar Menor in defense of the salt lagoon.
