Mucho Mas Mayo shows the installations and artistic interventions of the Historic Center (15/05/2017)

The Councilor for Culture of Cartagena, David Martinez, has toured this Monday, May 15, the facilities that various artists have created for the celebration of the emerging art festival Mucho Más Mayo and that has begun with the visit to the installation ' Estremecedor attack 'of Belén Orta.

Martínez emphasized that it is "great works" and has valued the importance of the explanations of its creators, who have approached the large group of press and artists who have made the route their proposals, the process of elaboration and anecdotes of his work . In addition, at the end of each visit, the mayor of Culture and the creator of each work, have placed an adhesive poster next to each installation with explanatory data.

"Like every year, Mucho Más Mayo surprises us with very attractive proposals", said the mayor of Culture, who has stressed that Cartagena "has a lot of culture and a lot of history, but we must also give opportunity to the works that are done now And modern art. "

So, remembered, that is the goal of Mucho Más Mayo, a festival that seeks citizens to enjoy "another type of art, which is being done now with works different from what we are accustomed to see."

FACILITIES

The first of the works that could be seen in this Monday's visit was the giant octopus that climbs the Wall of the Sea, out of a book, the work of Belén Orta.

The artist wanted to show how the culture can leave the pages of any book and, in the form of an octopus, "wants to culturizar Cartagena" and carry the letters to the whole city.

The sculpture, which weighs 200 kilos, has been built with various materials and has been installed with special anchors not to damage the wall.

Other installations that can be seen during the next days in the framework of this festival are 'Silenciados', of the Madridians Daniel Hernández and Alberto Alonso, under the stage direction of Abraham Hurtado, and that can be seen in the courtyard of the Isen University Center;

'Habitar la ausencia' by Giuliana Grippo, from Buenos Aires, in co-production with AADK Spain, which is located on Calle Osario;

The proposal of the Technical School of Architecture and Building (ETSAE) of the Polytechnic University of Cartagena (UPCT), 'Invader Architecture', which is installed on the main facade of the ETSAE, Campus Alfonso XIII;

Or 'Cities that puncture', in the Plaza del Icue 'and also has been made from the team of Mucho Más Mayo of the ETSAE.

In addition, it will be possible to see the 'Dissection of Val del Omar on artistic practices on expanded cinema', in the Pavilion of Autopsies;

'Out of neither' by Víctor Solanas, Calle Honda;

The sculpture 'Fear Not', by Miguel Olmo, who runs a cultural center in Sidney (Australia), in Cerro del Molinete;

The sensorial experience 'The Invisible City', created by Jesus Nieto next to the imaginary group of Utopia Cartagena;

And 'Rederos', that will simulate a night of fishing, in the street Sagasta.
