The planned actions, which involve an investment of more than 120,000 euros (VAT included), aim to restore, renovate and refurbish the passenger building, exterior canopy and car park

Adif has tendered, for 120,729 euros (VAT included), works for the improvement of the Cartagena station (Murcia).

These works, which have a term of execution of three months, comprise different actions, both in the building itself and in the car park and its surroundings.

Thus, it is planned to carry out the rehabilitation of one of the side walls of the passenger building, as well as to restore and recover the access doors, replacing the deteriorated elements and applying a new coat of paint.

In addition, the interior pavement of the station will be adjusted, the surface will be leveled and its consistency will be improved to facilitate access.

As regards the canopy, a protection treatment will be applied against the meteorological inclemencies and the drainage pipes of rainwater and runoff will be repaired.

A new coat of paint will also be applied.

In the exterior of the passenger building, the sidewalks adjacent to the passenger building will be rebuilt and a new lighting system will be installed.

Likewise, the parking lot will be improved and the squares will be delimited.

These works are part of the improvements that Adif is carrying out in the stations, facilities and equipment of its ownership within the conventional network.

This program pays special attention to access and compatibility with the environment to achieve a new functional set that improves the services offered to the client.

Adif station in Cartagena

The Adif station in Cartagena consists of two floors.

In modernist style, like other buildings of the port city, on the façade stand the gigantic parasol and a large thermal window with pottery on both sides, with mythological motifs.

This station, which connects Cartagena with Madrid, the Mediterranean arch and the Murcian capital, provides the services of ticket sales, information and attention to the traveler.
