Cabo de Palos hosts this weekend the First National Conference of Federated Diving (11/05/2017)

The Marine Reserve of Cabo de Palos will host the first National Conference of Federated Diving, which are convened on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the Spanish Federation of Underwater Activities (FEDAS) and will bring together divers from all over Spain who will participate in various activities scheduled for this Weekend.

This was announced during the presentation of the conference on Thursday, May 11, the Councilor for Tourism and Litoral of the City of Cartagena, Obdulia Gómez, who has been accompanied by the president of the Federation of Underwater Activities of the Region of Murcia ( FASRM), Jesus Cano.

Obdulia Gómez recalled that FEDAS is not only diving but "have many sports activities related to the underwater world, such as underwater fishing, swimming with fins, underwater orientation, photography in apnea as well as photography and underwater video, plus a Series of emerging sports such as hockey and submarine rugby. In turn, the mayor of Tourism has shown his satisfaction for having been a site of the municipality of Cartagena as it is Cabo de Palos chosen for the celebration of the first edition of these days and has ensured that the richness in flora, fauna And remains of wrecked wrecks found on the bottoms of Cabo de Palos make it "one of the best places in the world for the practice of underwater activities."

In addition, he stressed that all the centers and clubs of underwater activities in the municipality participate in this conference, and has ensured that this activity serves to disseminate diving as "one of the star tourism products of Cartagena."

For his part, the president of the FASRM thanked the collaboration of the City of Cartagena and all the diving centers and clubs of Cabo de Palos at the time of organizing these days, and wished it to be the first of many editions in the near future. years.

He has highlighted the success of participation that has been registered, with the registration of more than 150 divers who will represent all the autonomous communities and can visit the Marine Reserve of Cabo de Palos and Cartagena.


The conference will begin this Friday, May 12, around 12:00, with the official reception to the participants in the Interpretation Center of Cabo de Palos.

At 1550 hours, the president of the FASRM will be in charge of presenting and inaugurating the event.

From 16.00 hours, the Head of the Fisheries and Agriculture Department of the General Directorate of Livestock, Fisheries, Aquaculture and Environment, Emilio Dolores, will offer the presentation 'Cabo de Palos Marine Reserve'.

At 4.30 pm, the director of the Territorial School of Autonomous Diving (ETBAD) of the FASRM, José Manuel Babarro, will speak on 'Responsible diving and safe diving' and, at 17.00 hours, the medical commander of the Medical Center of the Armada (CBA), Angel Pujante, will expose 'Hyperbaric Medicine - New Tables'.

After a recess that will begin at 17.30 hours, at 6:00 pm will arrive the conference 'Pecios de Cabo de Palos', by the director of the Diving Center Naranjito, Angel Gallego.

The last lectures of the afternoon will be 'Diving in caves', by the experts in diving in caves José Luis Llamusi and Andrés Ros, at 18:30 hours;

And 'Marine Reserves', of the Head of Service of the Sub-Directorate General for the Protection of Fishery Resources, Juan Carlos Jorquera.

On Saturday, May 13, activities will begin at 8:00 am with the control of participants in the Aqualung Tent, which will be located in front of the El Faro Restaurant to begin, at 8.15 am, the departures to the different dive centers to begin The dives, which will end at 2:00 p.m.

In the afternoon, at 17.00 hours, a bus is scheduled to leave for Cartagena, where a guided tour of the National Museum of Underwater Archeology (Arqua) will take place in the afternoon and an audio-visual conference will be given by the director Of Arqua, Ivan Negueruela.

At night, starting at 9.30 pm, the dinner will begin for organizers and all participants, which will take place at the restaurant Sunset Area in La Manga del Mar Menor.

On Sunday, May 14, the same schedule will be followed on Saturday, with participants checking at 8:00 and dives from 8:15 to 2:00 p.m., and closing at 3:00 p.m.
