More than 100 voices join on Thursday to sing in the Bach Cartagena project (10/05/2017)

The Bach Cartagena program culminates its first edition with a participatory cantata that will star more than 100 voices from Cartagena and the Region.

The Church of Santo Domingo de Cartagena will be the scene of the first participatory cantata of the program to be held on Thursday, May 11 at 8 pm and where singing students from the most important conservatories in Spain, such as Barcelona, ​​Madrid and Valencia, will unite Their voices to the Chamber Choir and the University of Murcia Orchestra to interpret the cantata BWV 147 "Herz und Mund und Tat und Leben", which includes the well known "Jesus bleibet meine Freude" choir, a concert directed by Jorge Losana and with entrance free.

To these formations are added the voices of choir singers and students of the conservatories of Cartagena and the Region of Murcia who have wanted to join their voices in this first participatory cantata.

The initiative offers an experience to be lived in a different way: listening and singing the wonderful music of JS Bach.

Also will be interpreted the Concert for three trumpets, timbales and orchestra of GP Telemann, in commemoration of the 250th anniversary of his death.

The participatory cantata puts the finishing touch to a quarter full of activities that started last March with the presentation of the Bach Cartagena program.

The initiative has made known the music of Johann Sebastian Bach and Baroque musicians through concerts, conferences, workshops and participatory activities for all ages, bringing the Ancient Music to all corners of Cartagena.

Various activities including the concert held in conjunction with the European International Day of Ancient Music;

conferences ;

Courses and workshops of a didactic character, emphasizing the workshops directed to children with great participation, as the concert "The universe of the traverso" that brought them in contact with old instruments.

All these activities have been a successful first quarter of the program.

Bach Cartagena is organized by the Department of Culture, Education and Equality of the City of Cartagena and the platform Early Music Project, in collaboration with the Ministry of Culture and Portavocía, the Institute of Cultural Industries and Arts, INAEM, University Polytechnic of Cartagena, Mare Nostrum Campus, University of Murcia, ISEN Center, UNED, Catalan Higher School of Music, Federation of Choirs of the Region of Murcia and the Professional Conservatory of Music of Cartagena, Spanish Navy and The Military Parish of Santo Domingo de Cartagena.
