Islam is discussed in the next talk-colloquium of Cartagena Piensa (08/05/2017)

The program of activities of Cartagena Piensa, in which the Council of Culture of the City of Cartagena collaborates, has organized for this Tuesday, May 9, a colloquium on the current situation of the Islamic community, with the participation of María Jesús Morillas.

It will be at 20.00 hours, in the Lead Soldier.

Islam, peace, terrorism, the Arab and Muslim community will be some of the issues that will be discussed in this symposium 'Islam to debate', framed within the cycle 'Coffees ConCiencia y Pensamiento', which will include Pilar Garrido Clemente, PhD in Arabic Philology and Professor of the Faculty of Arts of the University of Murcia, along with Walid Habbal, preacher and coordinator of the Islamic communities of the Region of Murcia, UcidMurciao.

In addition, during the course of this talk-discussion will discuss the current situation of young people of Muslim origin, at a key moment in their development as individuals and citizens.

This sector of the population, despite being born in European countries, is in a moment of indefinition and conflict when it comes to articulating the different elements that will shape its identity, often multiple or multicultural, of great wealth.

This situation of personal crisis, typical of age and belonging to diverse communities and cultures, but exacerbated by the current context and media-social pressure, increases the risk of exclusion and recruitment by radical networks.

Through this free activity is intended to inform the population about the new movements, conflicts and social changes that are taking place, in order for the population to know and learn to coexist globally.
