Fifteen Civil Protection volunteers trained in rescue and rescue techniques in the aquatic environment (05/05/2017)

The School of Public Security of the City of Cartagena has launched today a Training Course on Rescue and Rescue techniques in the aquatic environment, training action in which during sixty-four hours, fifteen Civil Protection volunteers will be formed.

Lifeguards are essential elements of emergency services in situations of risk in or around water, mainly on the beaches of the coast of Cartagena.

The course, which ends May 27, aims to prepare volunteers to take preventive measures and to assess and evaluate a situation of risk and act in an emergency.

This training activity has two distinct areas that are developed in the ESPAC facilities, in the case of the theoretical part, and practice, which is in the municipal swimming pool of La Aljorra and on the beaches.

In the theoretical training, volunteers will learn preventive measures, equipment supervision, communication with bathers, main functions and missions, risk management, as well as the basic components of rescue.

In the practical part they will be instructed on swimming adapted to the rescue, rescue of conscious and unconscious victims, surveillance, scanning and communications besides practicing the entrances and exits on a beach.
