Cs Cartagena will present a package of measures to encourage electric transport in the next Plenary (02/05/2017)

- For the spokesperson for Citizens in Cartagena, Manuel Padín, "one of the factors that discourage the purchase and use of this class of vehicles is the absence of a general implementation of charging infrastructure in our city, both in garages and in the public road".

- The orange formation will ask, among other measures, to study the modification of ordinances so that each building of new construction is obliged to have the necessary infrastructure to enable the recharge of batteries of electric cars.

The Municipal Citizens Group will propose and present at the next plenary a package of measures aimed at encouraging the use of electric vehicles through the installation of recharging points and modifications in municipal ordinances.

According to the orange formation, global warming and air pollution is a reality that requires action by public authorities to reduce carbon emissions, both in electricity production and in the use of combustion engines.

Citizens consider that the City of Cartagena should make a greater effort and encourage and encourage a progressive transition from combustion vehicles to other less polluting.

Promoting the use of electric vehicles will significantly reduce the damage caused by air pollution to the health of Cartagena residents.

For the Citizen spokesperson in Cartagena, Manuel Padín, "one of the factors that discourage the purchase and use of this type of transport is the absence of a general implementation of charging infrastructure in our municipality, both in garages and on the road In order to facilitate this progressive transition, it is imperative that the administration promote and enhance the creation of this kind of facilities in these spaces. "

Citizens will ask that the Consistory of Cartagena study the creation of specific parking for electric cars equipped with recharge posts, and to reach agreements in this regard with service stations and private parking.

The orange training also aims to analyze the possibility of amending the ordinances so that each building of new construction is obliged to have the necessary infrastructure to enable the recharge of the batteries of electric cars and to allow free parking of The parking areas regulated to all vehicles with zero emission card, issued by the General Directorate of Traffic.

Another point that includes the proposal of Citizens is to plan the gradual replacement of the fleet of municipal vehicles with combustion engines for electric vehicles.

They will also request that the tax on buildings, facilities and works be taxed in the establishment of the electric vehicle recharging system.

Finally, to ensure that the plenary supports this battery of measures, Cs Cartagena proposes that the agreement be informed to business groups, Vocational Training schools and municipal organizations linked to sustainable development.

Deloitte Report

The Deloitte consultancy has recently published a report 'A model of decarbonised transport for Spain in 2050' which offers a series of tips for the decarbonization of transport in Spain, among them, recommend to public institutions to facilitate and prepare the Inevitable arrival of electric means of transport in the cities.

According to the data that this consultant handles, in 2016 4,750 electric cars were sold in Spain and circulate in our country about 11,000, figures still too low when the car park is in Spain of about 21 million cars.

The price is one of the main obstacles when buying an electric car, but not the only one, and according to this consultant, the scarce number of charging posts on the public road or the absence of charging stations or electrolineras is another The main obstacles to be definitively bet on the electric transport.

In Cartagena, only Espacio Mediterráneo shopping center, Renault and Nissan dealerships, and El Portús campsite are listed as recharging points.

Manuel Padín believes that "public institutions have much to say to reduce as far as possible the harmful effect that pollution produces on citizens. Air quality is municipal responsibility and cities like Madrid or Barcelona are already providing recharging points In public areas. Many of the measures that we are proposing have zero cost, and the amount of a load pole is around 15,000 euros, so we consider that it is acceptable for a City Council of the dimensions of ours.

According to the Citizens' spokesperson, "implementing these measures, along with others that we have already proposed, such as improving the energy efficiency of public buildings or controlling unauthorized agricultural fires, will help to improve our image, our health, and highlight our City as a sustainable tourist destination. "

Contamination according to the World Health Organization

The World Health Organization (WHO) has recommended on many occasions the use of electric means of transport.

About 7,000 people die each year in Spain as a result of air pollution, according to WHO.

As a result of these data, campaigns have been undertaken to promote practical policies to reduce these pollution rates, for example on the improvement of housing, energy systems, waste management and transport.
