The event was attended by the Councilor for Culture, David Martínez, the award-winning author and the director of the Popular University of Cartagena, Pepe Macián.

In this thirtieth edition, a total of 152 authors, both Spanish and European, such as France, Germany, Switzerland and Italy, concurred with their works;

Of South America as Colombia, Cuba, Argentina, Chile, Venezuela;

Of the United States and also of African countries like Morocco.

The selection of the winning work was carried out by a jury formed by illustrious national poets like Luis Alberto de Cuenca, Vicente Gallego, Blanca Andreu, Eloy Sánchez Rosillo or Manuel Ramírez.

The Antonio Oliver Belmás Poetry Prize is "the most important in the Region of Murcia and one of the most representative of the literary panorama in Spanish," said the mayor of Culture David Martinez, and has a provision of 5,000 euros for its winner As well as the publication of his work, which as set out in the competition's rules is published by the Pre-Texts publishing house.

In addition, Martinez announced that the call for the XXXI edition of this contest has already been approved in Plenary.

This contest commemorates the figure of the poet and founder of the Popular University, Antonio Oliver Belmás, and for this reason is organized every year from this entity and the Department of Culture in his honor.

Pepe Macián defined in his presentation to Misael Ruiz as "a poet who lives poetry intensely and who has a clear internal vocation".

During the event, some of the book's poems have been recited, such as 'Shooting Fish', 'Partially', 'Like Snow', 'The Wave', 'The Chair' or 'The Crossing' Who has affirmed to feel "excited" by this recognition and by the interpretation of its work.

"Each poem is the result of a way of being attentive to things, from the senses, the emotions and the ideas, the concepts, and all through the word, that is the one that brings together and gathers that Experience and at the same time gives it shape, creates it, "explained the winner of the prize in relation to this discipline and inspiration when writing.

For Ruiz, it is a matter of making present those aspects of reality that are latent.

However, he understands that "the poet is a passive subject" that he can do more than "propitiate a situation or a state that is conducive to that poetic intuition, is as a means through which poetry happens."

According to the author, it is ultimately the reader who "allows that poem to arise, set, and that which was dark, which had not yet been thought or intuited to be present."
