The new roundabout being built on the regional road RM-311, which connects the N-301 in El Albujón with the RM-12 in Los Beatos, in the municipality of Cartagena, will speed up and improve access to the hundred companies located In the industrial estate of La Palma.
The Minister of Development and Infrastructure, Pedro Rivera, accompanied by the mayor of Cartagena, José López, today visited the works of the roundabout and explained that "this infrastructure, which involves an investment by the regional government of 323,000 euros, will increase Security in the access to the industrial estate of La Palma and the link with the AP-7 highway, in the communication axis of Los Beatos.
The roundabout will have two lanes of four meters wide each, interior and exterior shoulders of half a meter and slopes of 0.50 meters, where the vertical signage will be installed.
Its outside diameter will be 46 meters, while the interior, which will be finished in concrete printed in color, will be 30 meters.
In addition, 24 12-meter-high streetlights will be installed to improve lighting inside the roundabout and its entrances.
The works also include the replacement of a pipe used by the irrigators by a more resistant cast iron pipe.
The period of execution of the work is six months and it will not be necessary to cut traffic to traffic.
The RM-311 is an important axis of communication within the network of roads of the Field of Cartagena since in its environs they are settled multitude of industries, mainly related to the sector agroalimentario.
Pedro Rivera said that "a roundabout of these characteristics is necessary in the area where there is an intense traffic of more than 1,100,000 vehicles per year, which are directed to the countryside of Cartagena, of which more than 100,000 Are trucks and heavy vehicles that use this route to access the farms and agri-food companies in the area.

For the design of the roundabout have taken into account the needs that have communicated the neighbors, users and entrepreneurs of the area.
In the industrial estate of La Palma, 105 companies operate in the agricultural sector, food, services, automotive and chemical industries.
