The Business and Innovation Center of Cartagena develops 20 actions to boost entrepreneurship and the ecosystem 4.0 (28/03/2017)

The European Business and Innovation Center of Cartagena (Ceeic) will develop 20 programs, courses, seminars and workshops this year to boost entrepreneurship, the creation and consolidation of emerging companies or 'startups' and the generation and application of tools that contribute To strengthen the 4.0 ecosystem in the Region.

This planning was one of the points discussed today at the meeting of the Board of Directors of the center, chaired by the director of the Institute of Development and President of Ceeic, Javier Celdrán, who stressed that "the center has become, thanks to this intense activity , In one of the engines of the strategy Murcia Industry 4.0. "

In this regard, he pointed out that "the European Centers of Enterprise and Innovation of Murcia and Cartagena are a real source of regional talent, as their support for entrepreneurship and innovation allows young entrepreneurs to develop their innovative projects, providing an important added value to the Industrial and industrial fabric and placing the Region on the map of the current technological revolution. "

The boost to the ecosystem 4.0 is reinforced this year with new meetings between 4.0 enablers and large companies in the area;

Workshops 4.0 specialized in design thinking, 3D printing or in the steps to register an innovative brand in the Spanish Office of Patents and Trademarks;

Seminars on digital tools;

A strategy to strengthen this ecosystem 4.0;

Awareness-raising seminars;

Programming of startup-oriented activities through the 'Weekend startup' program, or actions to teach 'gazelle' companies (which have higher growth rates than the industry average) and smaller companies To manage the processes of innovation.

These actions are in addition to those developed by the center last year, such as the ninth edition of the program 'Imagine a Different Company';

The Yuzz, Business Class or Lean StartUp programs;

The Business Angels network of the Region or the technological training facilitated through the program of acceleration and incubation of startups Cloud Incubator.

"The commitment to training and innovation multiplies the chances of success of business projects hosted or developed through Ceeic, which have a survival rate of 80 percent," said Celdrán.

Currently, the center houses 22 companies specialized in so-called connected technologies, such as virtual reality, 3D printing, business and industrial use of drones, computer consulting, technology applied to boost energy efficiency or mobile and web application development companies, With applications for sectors as diverse as agricultural, sanitary, naval and aeronautical or industrial sectors;

And since the beginning of the year have launched 15 innovative projects.

47 companies created in 2016

Most of the projects, developed by the center and by entrepreneurs and companies housed in it, fall within the scope of new connected technologies.

These include research, products, workshops or the development of an application for corporate events, an initiative to transform Internet projects into innovative and technological ideas or the implementation of engineering solutions and development of functional products through Rapid prototyping techniques and digital fabrication.

Last year, 122 projects were developed, most of them in the ICT sector, although some were also highlighted in areas such as professional services, leisure and tourism, commerce and industry.

In this sense, during 2016 Ceeic helped create 47 companies in different economic sectors and attended to 1,135 entrepreneurs.

The different courses, workshops and training seminars counted on 1,028 participants, in addition to the 3,310 who participated in programs to promote entrepreneurship at an early age, such as the "Imagine a Different Company" or the "First Lego League" .
