The board of ACEDU proposes to the mayor actions to promote the southern area of ​​the Mar Menor (14/03/2017)

The mayor of Cartagena, José López, met Tuesday with the board of the Association of Merchants and Businessmen of the Unique District (ACEDU) in which have just formed El Carmolí, Punta Brava, Estrella de Mar and the Urrutias, headed By its president, Severo Sánchez.

During the course of the meeting, in which the members of the organization have taken advantage of to present themselves to the first edil after their recent constitution, questions have been dealt with regarding the actions and projects that are planned for the southern area of ​​the Mar Menor for the season of Easter and summer, at the same time as the wishes of the association and what they expect for the summer season have brought to you.

As ACEDU President Severo Sánchez explained, the members of the board of directors have come to this meeting with López to "ask for their help and collaboration".

What the entrepreneurs request in this area of ​​La Manga is that from the municipal government "claim through neighbors and traders and entrepreneurs what has always asked the regional and state administration."

These requests focus on the "completion of the promenade, the regeneration of beaches as marked by the Scientific Committee of the Region of Murcia," that is, "scrupulously respecting what marks" this, and "especially the promotion of Fairs and events in that area to make it dynamic and people go.

Sánchez's concern is that this enclave "is not only seen as a bathing area", but that the offer is more extensive.

"If not, we who live only and exclusively tourism, we are faced with the failure and ruin of our businesses," said the president of the association of merchants.

In relation to the projects to be implemented, Sánchez has indicated that work is already being done on various actions.

"We have seen a series of events with different councils," he said.

"A work plan has already been coordinated between the different councils of the City of Cartagena and there is great willingness on the part of the mayor and the government team," he added.

In the same line, confirmed that "there is a very good harmony" between the local Executive and ACEDU.

On the other hand, he said that from his point of view has been experienced an improvement in the water and beaches of the Mar Menor and in reference to the fourth breakwater of Los Urrutias, he pleads not to withdraw it now although he does consider that more should be done ahead;

However, believes that in this area the opinions of the Scientific Committee and biologists should be followed.
