Ucomur organizes a day on women entrepreneurs to mark Women's Day (09/03/2017)

On the occasion of Women's Day, Ucomur, in collaboration with the Agency for Local Development and Employment (ADLE) of the City of Cartagena, organized the day 'Women and Employment.

Entrepreneurs: Creating value and values, "which were inaugurated Thursday by Deputy Mayor Ana Belén Castejón and Juan Antonio Pedreño, president of the Union of Associated Labor Cooperatives of the Region of Murcia (Ucomur), and attended by the councilman Of Equality, David Martinez.

A day that marks the beginning of a great challenge for the City Council, "to make known the world of cooperativism and the social economy," Castejón said.

This is "one of the actions we have programmed with Ucomur throughout the year from the area of Economic Strategy with the collaboration of the ADLE, aimed mainly to disseminate this formula that unfortunately in Cartagena is hardly known and has been exploited," he explained, After giving the data of creation of cooperative enterprises in 2014 in the Region, which reflect that in Cartagena 8 cooperative companies were created by the 21 that began their activity in Lorca or the 48 of Murcia.

133 cooperatives were created throughout the Region of Murcia.

In this sense the deputy mayor has wished that, as a result of this initiative, citizens are encouraged to undertake through this formula and "go to the City, because, with the help of Ucomur, will give all the information that is needed.

An entrepreneurial formula that, has wanted to emphasize, is very well suited to the needs of women who want to combine work and family life and offer greater equity in accessing management positions, with a percentage of 39.2 % Of women in positions of responsibility.

For his part, the director of Ucomur has appreciated that "Cartagena begins a very interesting time" in which we will try to make visible and make known the cooperative model and the different formulas of social economy, "which basically defend personal or shared projects In which the important thing is the person and bets on the redistribution of benefits among those who participate in the project.

An aspect that, according to Pedreño, makes the people who make up the project are more involved in it and face crisis situations with a loss of jobs much lower than other business models.

That is why the president of Ucomur has indicated the objective is not only to know, but also to increase significantly the number of social enterprises in Cartagena, so that "25 or 30 cooperatives are created after one year, which Is an absolutely reasonable thing. "

That is why Ucomur will offer all its support and advice in this matter so that people "think and see that from a project of its own can generate jobs and wealth for the Region," he explained.

Throughout the day developed today, attendees have been able to listen to the conference 'Women's Leadership: Embrace Creating Value', by the journalist Ariadna Trillas.

In addition, the roundtable 'Entrepreneurship in the female key' has been held, in which representatives of Ucomur, AMEP, Alma Mater, La Vaguada, Lorcamur and Compass South have participated. Is if you lose or if you win, the important thing is that you do not lose the desire ', the voice of the expert in Business Ethics and Personal Growth, José Pomares.
