Cartagena hosts the exhibition El Artico breaks down next autumn (03/03/2017)

The councilor of the Quality of Life area of ​​the City of Cartagena, Francisco Calderón, and the mayor of Hacienda, Isabel Garcia, held a meeting this Friday, March 3, in the administrative building of San Miguel, with the director of the area of Business of Caixabank in Cartagena, Diego García-Esteller, to address diverse initiatives that reaffirm the municipal commitment in the protection and defense of the environment, among which highlights the exhibition 'The Arctic breaks' next fall.

Thus, Cartagena will host this traveling exhibit of la Caixa Social Work for a month, from October 10 to November 10 of this year.

The exhibition shows the uniqueness of the ecosystems of the North Pole, detailing the important role it plays in the global climate, its physical characteristics and its biodiversity.

At present, the state of the Arctic is of an intense fragility, its ecosystem is lost with the consequent detriment for the whole planet.

The two councilors have participated in this meeting in which they have been explained that, among the specific objectives of 'The Arctic is broken', they discover the importance of the Arctic as a regulator of the terrestrial climate;

To reflect on the great threat that global warming poses to this ecosystem;

To know the Arctic ecosystem describing its riches and its singularities;

To understand the importance of the conservation of that part of the planet and to know the difficulties involved in life in the Arctic.

The exhibition 'The Arctic breaks' is an exhibition especially directed to the school population through classroom activities, as well as online resources for the teacher to apply to their work.

During the meeting, García has presented the final report of the exhibition 'Hâ‚‚Oh!

The secrets of the water of your city ', promoted by the Obra Social La Caixa and which took place in Cartagena between October 6 and November 1 of last year.

This exhibition, which was visited in the Plaza José María Artés, next to the Palace Hall, aroused a great interest and reached a total of 11,0555 visitors, of which 1,139 came from different educational centers, a fact that highlights the pedagogical nature of This exhibition aimed at reflecting citizens on the major technological, economic and environmental challenges posed by water management in urban areas.
