Continuing training, reconciliation of work and family and salary equality, main points of the first agreement of workers of Cartagena Port of Cultures (03/03/2017)

Greater stability, a quadrant that respects work and family reconciliation, bets on continuing education and equal pay are the main points of the collective agreement signed by the Deputy Mayor of Cartagena, Ana Belén Castejón, as president of Cartagena Puerto de Culturas, with Union representatives this Friday, March 3.

Thus, it is the first agreement of workers that is elaborated from the creation of mushroom tourist company, a historical claim among the employees of the same and that this Friday has materialized in the signing of this document, which has described the deputy mayor as Of "historic day".

This agreement, effective until December 31, 2019, is committed to a policy of converting temporary jobs into stable jobs, something that the president of Puerto de Culturas has had a special impact on.

The agreement has been reached after more than a year of work that has aimed, in Castejón's words, "to improve the salary and working conditions of the people who make up the workforce."

The president of Cartagena Puerto de Culturas has confessed to feel "satisfied" and "excited" because it is tata of an agreement "ambitious, as well deserved workers of Puerto de Culturas."

Thus, he remarked, the document "has been able to collect the sensibilities and characteristics of a company as a Port of Cultures", as it is a tourist and not an administrative company, so it has certain peculiarities such as work during the weekends Of week, being Cartagena "a tourist city of first level".

To improve the working conditions of the workers of Cartagena Puerto de Culturas, a quadrant has been designed with which they can know their work shifts "and so they can organize their life and know the free time they have."

In addition, the agreement regulates equal pay for workers who hold the same positions in the company, which now has hierarchized the competencies of each job and already has regulated professional categories.

"To equal work, equal salary," Castejón has been congratulated.

We also bet on this agreement for continuous training, since "we have the best professionals but the company has to know how to offer tools to keep them forming".

And is that, said the deputy mayor, "Cartagena wants and should be a top tourist destination, and without well-trained professionals, we will not be able to get it."

Finally, Ana Belén Castejón thanked the employees and trade union representatives of the tourist company for their patience during these months of work until the signing of the agreement and their contributions, which "has made it much easier for me to reach this port" .

The company currently has a workforce of around 40 workers, with a large majority of women, although, as you have wished to ask questions from the press, "I hope very soon I can say that we are moving forward", while doing Commitment "that this is just a starting point."
