Equality program a month of activities for the International Women's Day (27/02/2017)

Under the motto 'Equals from the root', the Department of Equality of the City of Cartagena has organized a series of activities throughout the month of March on the occasion of Women's Day.

The programming was presented this morning by the delegate councilor of the organizing area, David Martinez, and the coordinator of Equality, M. José Soler.

Through music, theater or literature, and with the collaboration of other bodies such as the councils of Social Services, Culture and Youth, Popular University, Association March 8 and the Real Club de Regatas, the area of ​​equality seeks with this Program of activities give more visibility and seek solutions to problems such as the wage gap between men and women or gender violence.

During the presentation, Martinez recalled that Equality is doing much in this direction with programs in schools and institutes or with the school for the empowerment of women.

However, it has indicated that much remains to be done, and this requires the help of other institutions.

In that sense, she has taken the opportunity to ask the Family and Equal Opportunities Department to increase the subsidy for the Centers for Assistance to Victims of Gender Violence (CAVIS) even more, "to which many women from both Cartagena As of the Union ".

He also recalled the need to conclude a large State pact at the national level by the Government and the different political groups that make up the parliamentary arc.

The council has stated that every time it is denied that there is no problem of inequality is perpetuating this inequality, and for this reason has encouraged all women to make themselves heard that day, to look something lilting in their dress and to come out to manifest.

ACTIVITY PROGRAM

The program will begin on March 1 and 2 with two exhibitions by the Popular University: 'Little Stories, Great Women', which will pick up a selection of images made during the course of photography, which opens on day 1, and 'Comic in Feminine' on the 2nd. That same day will be represented the poetic monologue 'Frida, strokes of an inland sea'.

The three events will take place at the Ramón Alonso Luzzy Cultural Center.

On Friday, March 3, within the activities of the UrbanCT cultural program, the music and graffiti event 'Hip Hop Fem' will be held at the Youth Resource Center.

The International Women's Day, March 8, will begin with a march from the Plaza de San Francisco to Plaza España, at the beginning of which there will be a dance show.

It will end with the planting of 300 plants of lilac flowers.

In the afternoon there will be a concentration in the square of Icue with the slogan 'Respect my existence or expect my resistance'.

The day will end with a concert for Women's Day in which act Paula Marengo and Saray Lelo in El Soldadito de Plomo.

On days 9 and 10 you can enjoy another two concert in the Mr. Witt café and the Ramón Alonso Luzzy Center respectively.

On March 11 will open the 'Village of Equality', a co-educational activity for the whole family in which there will be music, games, workshops and talks in the Plaza de San Francisco.

The next day will be held the concert 'Music that sounds like a woman', performed by the Band of Women of Willows at the Real Club de Regatas de Cartagena.

On the 15th, the Asociación Cultural Algameca will play the play 'Juguetes del Viento' at the Ramón Alonso Luzzy Cultural Center.

The events will end on March 29 with the Encuentro del Bazar de Letras with the author Mar Navarro.
