Cartagena already has a Municipal Commerce Council (15/02/2017)

The Municipal Council of Commerce of Cartagena has been officially constituted this Wednesday, February 15.

The mayor of Cartagena, José López, presided together with the Deputy Mayor, Ana Belén Castejón, the session in which it was initiated the process of this entity that all the representatives of the different agents of the sector have agreed to define as necessary and vital.

The creation of this council, promoted by the Area of ​​Economic Strategy directed by Ana Belén Castejón, will facilitate the participation of local trade representatives in the decision making within the municipal scope that may affect them.

Within the framework of this new body, two commissions have been created, one for Commercial and Infrastructures, although it has been agreed that at the request of any of the members of the assembly, other commissions may be opened.

Likewise, the proposal for the inclusion of COEC and the Chamber of Commerce in the two already created has been modified.

The Trade Promotion Commission will meet every 3 months to design, together with the merchants and with all those who want to contribute, the campaigns aimed at reactivating the traditional commerce of Cartagena, that is, small commerce.

The Infrastructure will be dedicated to the actions related to clearing the areas of commerce, and it will be counted on the advice and the work of the technicians of the area of ​​Urbanism and Infrastructures.

The mayor of the port city, José López, said that the formalization of the start of this entity means "the implementation of something that had long been claimed by the merchants of the municipality," which is "a consultative body where they can be raised The paths that will lead to trade, where they are going to carry out the municipal actions to encourage commerce and to protect it, to boost it and help it in this age where the crisis still weighs on many traders, "especially in small commerce.

The mayor said that "there is a regulation already in progress, 18 articles accepted worldwide", and has advanced that will communicate the work to be done to each of the members of the assembly "so that they can contribute , Personarse, collaborate and participate ".

For the mayor is a "good news" that the Municipal Council of Commerce can start its journey at this time.

"It has taken 19 months but it is already underway," he congratulated himself.

The Deputy Mayor, Ana Belén Castejón, who is also responsible for this Council, since she is the director of the Economic Strategy Area, commented in the same line that it "cost" its implementation, and justified it by explaining that Has "wanted to do it with a very participatory process, consensual with all the political groups and with all the agents of the society that could contribute, but above all having a protagonist role the four associations of merchants of the municipality".

In addition, the representatives of the six trade associations of Cartagena (Centro Comercial Abierto, La Milla, San Fernando, Cenit, Acobe and Acopec), Santa Florentina and Gisbert markets, Confederación de Organizaciones Empresariales de Cartagena (COEC), Chamber of Commerce of Cartagena, trade unions CCOO and UGT, the large commercial centers of the city (El Corte Inglés, Espacio Mediterráneo, Mandarache and Eroski), the Ministry of Economic Development, Hostecar, the Federation of Neighborhood Associations of Cartagena, Grouping of Hotels and Tourist Accommodations of Cartagena, political parties with representation in the Plenum and municipal technicians of Commerce, Consumption, Citizen Security and Public Road, Decentralization, Tourism and Urbanism.
