UPCT joins demotivated girls with women of reference to help them develop their talent (13/02/2017)

The University of Cartagena (UPCT), through the Social Council and the Everis Foundation, will bring together talented girls with women of reference in society to 'help them realize their full potential'.

The UPCT's director of Equality, María José Lucas, presented this project, called 'Pulsar', to the president of the Regional Assembly and asked for her collaboration.

The UPCT participates thus in a program of Mentors of the Foundation Everis, the second of individualized mentoring of the foundation, and the first one that is developed in Cartagena.

This is to connect teenagers between the ages of 15 and 18 with a network of women referents in different fields, so that as a team they can develop their potential and boost their talent to reach their goals.

To develop the program, five young people from IES Mediterráneo have been selected with a great intellectual capacity, says the director of Equality of the UPCT, María José Lucas.

The University, which is in the process of selecting the young women's mentors, points out that at the moment the UPCT's Vice-Rector for Research, Beatriz Miguel, the Regional Assembly's president, Rosa Peñalver and the Cartagena businesswoman Encarna Hernández have confirmed their collaboration As representatives of different areas of society.

According to the Director of Equality of the University, they are selecting women who are referent in areas such as teachers, cultural, health, political, judicial or business that meet with the person they tutor twice a month.

Meetings will begin in March and will run through May.

The project formally begins in March, although this month a meeting will be organized between mentors and mentors to get acquainted.

"The goal is to get the most out of these girls and motivate them to continue their studies," says Lucas, who indicates that they are selecting women of success in their professional field who have achieved their successes with personal effort 'And know how to pass it on to the girls to motivate them'.
