Family allocates more than 155,000 euros to the Rascasa employability program for people at risk of exclusion in Cartagena (27/01/2017)

The Minister of Family and Equal Opportunities, Violante Tomás, visited today in Cartagena the workshops of the association Rascasa, which carries out social assistance in neighborhoods considered high risk, promoting the effort of the population to raise their quality of life .

During the visit, he recalled that his Department allocated more than 155,000 euros to the programs of labor insertion of people at risk of exclusion carried out by this association through its programs and the aids for the recruitment of persons benefiting from the Basic Income Of Insertion.

Last year a total of 112 people participated in these programs and 50 of them have found employment.

The counselor explained that "the Murciano Institute of Social Action (IMAS) collaborates as an additional measure to address the vulnerability of these people in the development of programs to improve employability aimed at adults and young people in situation or risk of exclusion This initiative is giving very good results, and proof of this is that approximately 50 percent of the participants have achieved a job placement. "

The PRISMA III project is aimed at improving the employability of people at risk of social exclusion, is co-financed 80% by the European Social Fund, within the framework of the Regional Operational Program ESF 2014-2020 and 20 per Own funds from the Community.

Thus, not only do professional skills work, but also with the aim of improving employability, social, personal and technical skills are also being worked on.

On the other hand, the program 'Rascasa-Up 2' is to improve the employability and socio-labor insertion of young people in situation or risk of social exclusion, enrolled in the National System of Youth Guarantee, through the development of training actions.

Once the person is incorporated into the program, various actions are taken to ensure that unoccupied young people, at risk or at risk of exclusion and not integrated into the education system, can join the labor market, education or training.

Methodology of the respect and protagonism of the people

The Ministry also collaborates with Rascasa through the project 'La llave', financed with 12,000 euros and aimed at children and adolescents in the most disadvantaged districts of the municipality of Cartagena.

This project includes actions for the prevention of absenteeism and school failure, leisure and leisure workshops, intercultural and convivial spaces, sports spaces and activities during vacation periods.

The Minister explained that "the methodology of intervention is based on the respect and protagonism of the people and groups with whom it works. The association stands out as one of the organizations that collaborates in the fight against social exclusion, offering the most disadvantaged groups an opportunity For their social and labor integration ".

Rascasa, a non-profit association founded in 1990 and based in Los Mateos, has as its scope of action this and other neighborhoods such as Lo Campano and Santa Lucía and also the region of Cartagena.

He has carried out numerous projects with children in schools in these three neighborhoods, in neighborhood associations and in their premises.

Thus, they carried out socio-educational activities (school reinforcement and play activities) during extra-school hours and in vacation periods (summer schools or play centers).

In the schools of the three districts, they also offer basic services for children with special needs, such as breakfast, personal grooming, changing of clothes, support in the dining room and snack, among others.
