The winners of the Cross School receive their medals (25/01/2017)

The Councilor for Sports, Ricardo Segado, delivered on Wednesday morning the medals to the winners in each of the seven tests of the Cross School held on December 1 at the Circuit Velocity of Cartagena, which involved 1,400 Young people from 54 schools in the municipality.

The test is included in the Program of Physical Activity and Sport in School Age that organizes the Department of Sports of the City of Cartagena.

The young participants were divided into a total of seven races by categories and modalities, each of the events being carried out in the rain, which was why it was decided to delay the delivery of medals to the winners.

During the presentation of medals, held in the Municipal Sports Pavilion, the councilman has taken advantage of the athletes who will represent Cartagena in the regional final to be held next Wednesday, February 1 in Puerto Lumbreras for the categories Children, Cadet And Juvenil, and on March 10 in Lorca for those of Benjamín and Alevín.

BETWEEN SPORTS IN SCHOOL AGE

Ricardo Segado has highlighted the importance of this type of events for the Council.

"We put all our affection and commitment so that each year more young people discover the sport and the competition through the Program of Physical Activity and Sport in School Age," he said.

The mayor also thanked the volunteers of the Elcano Athletics Club, TAFAD students (Sports and Physical Activities Animation Technician), the Sports Medicine Center of the City Council, members of Civil Protection and workers Of the Speed ​​Circuit, "who, together with the technicians of the Department of Sports, make it possible to develop this test in optimal conditions."

PROGRAM OF PHYSICAL ACTIVITY AND SPORTS

This program is understood as a set of physical-sport activities that aim to promote sports practice in schoolchildren, oriented to the integral education of these, to the harmonious development of their personality, to the attainment of good physical and health conditions And a training that will enable the continued practice of sport in later ages.

The program should also promote the integration of disabled students into joint activities or, where appropriate, in adapted competitions.

The principles that inspire this program, as well as sports, are formative, educational and playful, so athletes, physical education teachers, coaches, parents' associations, referees, managers and managers must give a special treatment to these activities, Trying to transfer the principles of fair play, companionship and healthy life practices, rejection of violence and doping, and the integration of all the components of a team without discrimination of any kind.
