The mayor shares the neighborhood position on the creation of a protective strip in the Mar Menor (10/01/2017)

This morning, in response to questions from journalists, the mayor of Cartagena, José López, has expressed support for the opinion of the Federation of Neighborhood Associations of Cartagena and Comarca (FAVCAC) regarding the Mar Menor, to flee small Works and storm tanks "that do not serve to solve", and that the eleven million planned as an investment in the Mar Menor are destined to buy "a strip around the Mar Menor Expropriation of that strip that serves as a buffer over the salt lagoon It would be the best investment, the cheapest infrastructure and the most positive, "said the mayor.

Lopez has emphasized that, with this measure, would be "retracting agriculture around the salt lake, being able to make large green filters or putting native flora."

The mayor said that he defends to invest "those eleven million to expropriate the land surrounding the salt lagoon and make a path of protection for the Mar Menor," while making available to the president of CARM to "mediate between neighbors and That they do not have to get to make any manifestation, neither in the International Tourism Fair (FITUR) nor in any other place ", betting to arrive at a consensus that avoids this circumstance.

However, the mayor has expressed that he understands and shares "the position of the neighbors", in reference to the consequences caused by the last runoff, to finish insisting, again, by "a strip of protection".

To achieve this, he has called for "municipalities and CARM to make more contributions", if necessary, "to protect once and for all the salt lagoon."
