The donation will be used to pay for the heating of the 62 elderly without financial resources hosted the residence of Cartagena
The Polytechnic University of Cartagena (UPCT) and the teachers of the summer course of investigation methods detective of the lie have donated 2,700 € to the Residence of older people of the Little Sisters of the Poor in Cartagena.
It is the first time that the UPCT donates the benefits of a summer course to a social institution.
The donation comes from the emoluments of the teaching staff of the course and the benefits obtained with the enrollment, given by the UPCT.
The Little Sisters of the Poor will dedicate this money to paying part of the heating to the 62 elderly without resources that they attend in their residence.
During the ceremony held today at the Rectorate, UPCT rector Alejandro Diaz stressed that "this small amount, in the hands of the Little Sisters of the Poor, will be very productive" and thanked this initiative of the commissioner of Cartagena, Ignacio del Olmo.
The Vomisario has praised the sensitivity to channel the benefits of a formative activity towards the work of the Little Sisters of the Poor, whom he has described as "authentic heroines of society".
In his opinion, "the fact that the university returns specialized training and actions of this type generates confidence in the citizens".
The University Extension Coordinator of the UPCT, Francisco Martínez, pointed out that this course was designed for 25 people and finally more than 70 were enrolled.
The course was jointly organized by the Polytechnic and the National Police of Cartagena.
