The mayor demands equity and invites the municipalities of the Region to know their reality in the budgets (16/12/2016)

The mayor of Cartagena, José López, participated this morning in a new meeting of the Council of Mayors, which has taken place in the Hall of Municipalities of the Palacio de San Esteban (Murcia).

Lopez has begun his intervention stating that, in claiming the central government for greater funding for the Autonomous Community, "all municipalities go hand in hand and likewise, we must do so to claim that the regional government allocates its budgets based on The principle of equity. "

The first mayor has transmitted to his homonyms in the Region the data provided by the study, dated 2008 to 2015, of the graduate in Business Administration by the Universidad Politécnica de Cartagena (UPCT), Pablo Pérez, which reveals that territorial expenditure per Capita destined to the municipality of Cartagena has been clearly inferior to the regional average;

That Cartagena has ceased to receive in terms of funding 14 million compared to the regional average and that if the allocation of territorial expenditure per capita had been equal to that received by the municipality of Murcia, Cartagena should have received 318 million euros.

José López once again regretted that "70% of the regional budget remains in the 30% of the population", drawing attention to the fact that "in the four meetings that I attended this Council of Mayors, I have never seen the mayor of Murcia, José Ballesta. "

"If I did not know the markedly municipal profile of the regional president, one might think that the presence of José Ballesta is not necessary because the best mayor for the city of Murcia is Pedro Antonio Sánchez."

Finally, López has highlighted the current debt that CARM maintains with Cartagena "based on the objective data that imply the 14 million that we must assume of improper competencies plus the 6 million that have not been executed than budgeted for 2016."

The Council of Mayors, an organ made up of the mayors of the 45 municipalities of the Region, holds biannual meetings with representatives of the regional administration in order to foster a new framework of collaboration and cooperation.
