FICC_45 premieres in Spain before Cante el Gallo (01/12/2016)

The sixth day of screening at FICC_45 is dressed for the Spanish premiere of 'Before the Cante el gallo', feature by Puerto Rican artist Ari Maniel Cruz.

In addition we will be able to see the short films of the producers of the region in the MURCINE section, and an exclusive preview of the documentary 'The last adventure of the Gandul', directed by Tomás Cimavedilla and filmed in part in Cartagena.

Friday begins with a double session of the animated tale: 'Kung Fu Panda 3', at 9:45 and 11:45.

In the afternoon, promising Puerto Rican director Ari Maniel Cruz has chosen the Cartagena International Film Festival for the premiere of his feature film 'Antes que cante el gallo'.

A girl, desirous of leaving the country and going to live in the city, sees her dream fall apart when her mother moves to the United States with her new husband, being left in the care of her grandmother.

At age 13 he meets his father, and begins a search for love and acceptance that is confused with other feelings that wake the onset of his puberty.

The film has been awarded the Yellow Robin Award 2016 of the Curaçao International Film Festival Rotterdam, and is invited to participate in the Rotterdam 2017 Festival.

Before the premiere, the short film 'Y mañana Navidad' will be screened, a Spanish short whose action takes place in the 5 minutes in which one of the protagonists rises to go to the bathroom.

In the New Circus Theater, at 16:30 hours.

At 19 hours, the third block of projections begins with 'Nothing Stranger', a Spanish short about the dream that years ago had Ling, the protagonist, who is able to remember every detail.

Then Lady Macbeth, set in rural England in 1865, begins. The protagonist lives in distress with a husband whom she does not want and who doubles her age, until she begins an affair with a worker on the estate of her husband.

The film won the FIPRESCI Award at the San Sebastian Festival.

The day ends with the screening of 'The Salesman', a feature film that will represent Iran at the 2017 Oscars, as well as having been awarded at the Cannes Film Festival for Best Actor and Best Screenplay.

It tells the story of a young couple who must move out of their home for works in the building, and the problems they find in their new home caused by the previous tenant.

"The Salesman," adaptation of Arthur Miller's "Death of a Traveler," is made by Asghar Farhadi, director of the acclaimed "Nader and SImin: A Separation."

Before the screening, FICC_45 will advance exclusively ten minutes of the documentary 'The Last Adventure of Gandul', by Tomás Cimadevilla, which has been partially filmed in Cartagena.

MURCINE

The Cycle Billy Wilder will screen 'Primera Plana' at the Ramón Alonso Luzzy Cultural Center at 10 am and with free admission.

In addition, the MURCINE section proposes a day in the El Batel Auditorium (with free admission to full capacity) in which the 16 short films will be screened in two sessions (at 4:30 p.m. and 6:00 p.m., with a coffee break between Both), and will conclude with a lecture on Cinematographic Production with producer and filmmaker Tomás Cimadevilla.

Cimadevilla began his professional career as a film programmer at Canal Plus España.

In 1996 he began his career as a producer, and to date he has been responsible for twenty more feature films, including some of the recent great successes of Spanish cinema: The other side of the bed, Torremolinos 73, The Golden Footprints, Football Days, Pagafantas , Bad day to fish, El calentito, Lobos de Arga ... In 2007 he integrated his production company Telespan 2000 in the group Vértice 360, being founding member of the audiovisual group and general director of production of cinema and theater.

He has directed the documentary short film Regreso a la Alcarria, nominated for the Goya 2015, and the documentary feature The Last Adventure of Gandul on the world of trans-oceanic navigation, whose progress we can see tonight at the FICC.

He is currently preparing his first feature film, the comedy All in a Night.
