The I Poetic Festival Deslinde, organized by the Department of Culture of the City of Cartagena, has been successful, so it will be maintained in future editions, as announced by Councilor for Culture, David Martinez.
About 1,500 people have participated in the 34 events that comprised the program of this first Deslinde, in which 36 guests have taken part, among poets, musicians, specialized journalists and teachers, both from the region and from abroad.
"The level of participation is very positive, especially when dealing with an activity like poetry that, in principle, has a non-majority audience.
In addition, all the participants have been very happy.
All this leads us to continue with this festival in future editions, "said the Councilor for Culture.
To widen this "immense minority", which Juan Ramón Jiménez said, and to bring the miracle of poetry and other arts and practices with which it interacts (music, performing arts, visual arts, journalism, etc.) to A much larger audience is already among the future objectives of this new cultural festival.
Deslinde is the first stable institutional space that opens for poetry in the regional public culture at this time, and incorporates the municipality and region - which has a large number of poets, many of them of enormous quality - to what is Normal in other parts of the country.
This first Deslinde has marked some of the characteristics that the festival will preserve and enrich in successive editions: the use of multiple spaces and formats for the activities conceiving the city as the global stage of the festival;
Cooperation with various institutions, entities and businesses or cultural enterprises;
The link with the educational institutions and the students of the same;
The artistic diversity of the proposals and the hybrid character of many of them;
Respect for the principle of gender equality in culture;
The remuneration - albeit symbolic - of the participating poets to dignify this creative task;
The combination of production and regional authors with others coming from outside.
