Hotels, restaurants and tourist sites of Cartagena are well geolocated on the Internet, according to the UPCT (28/11/2016)

Cartagena's hospitality and catering businesses, as well as monuments and tourist centers, are generally well positioned on geolocation platforms on the Internet and do not perceive serious deficiencies in the tourism sector.

They are conclusions of the master's work of the student of the Faculty of Sciences of the Company Pedro Jose Villalba, directed by the professor Soledad Martínez.

The study aims to give an overview about the geolocation and to examine more thoroughly its uses and utilities within the tourist area.

For this, an analysis has been made of the positioning of companies and tourist attractions in Cartagena in general social networks (Facebook or Twitter) and platforms that use geolocation as a marketing tool.

The author of the report, a postgraduate student in the management and administration of tourist institutions and institutions, has analyzed three sectors: lodgings, bars and restaurants and points of tourist interest.

"Of the nine hotels studied (all of which exist in the city of Cartagena), we can find all of them and can easily contact with a quick search, being in the followers, comments and scores where the hotels must do their best Effort, reaching a level of competitiveness better, and trying to get closer to the client so that it can follow through a page or a social network, "says the director of the work.

Within the catering sector, there are different trends in the use of applications with geolocation tools in a sample of 50 establishments, bars, restaurants and coffee shops.

On the one hand, there are establishments that do not seem to worry about being present in social networks or even on the Internet, and if they are not for some action done for that purpose by them.

These are bars or small restaurants and centered on the local population.

On the other hand, it is clear the existence of businesses with greater presence in networks, driven by themselves or for being very popular among users.

These businesses usually have a good rating on rating platforms and comments (exceed 8 on average), so it is concluded that the quality of these premises is considered good to very good.

The work also analyzes eleven monuments and places of tourist interest, among them the National Museum of Underwater Archeology ARQUA, with more followers in social networks.

In general, although they are not present in all the applications analyzed, they tend to have a fairly high score, "which implies that there is a quality that is perceived by users", adds the teacher.
