The Councilor for Equality, David Martinez, accompanied by the coordinator of Equality, María José Mercader, and the technical director of the reports, sociologist María Escudero, Tuesday, November 22, presented the presentation of a sociological analysis on violence of genre.

In the event, which has taken place in the Press Room of the Palace Hall, have addressed the studies Sociological analysis on gender violence: appreciations of young adolescents and An approach to Gender Violence: How you live and how you perceive, That analyze the violence of gender as the maximum expression of the inequality, and it has been attended by the councilors of CTSSP, Pilar Marcos and Teresa Sánchez.

Identifying what ideas exist in society that tend to favor non-egalitarian situations should be the first step for eradication by public administrations, as explained by Councilman Martinez.

To this end, it is important to pay special attention to the behaviors, perceptions and attitudes related to the equality between young adolescents, which justifies the carrying out of a specific survey to this sector of the population.

The identification of these parameters is fundamental to adopt the appropriate prevention and intervention measures adapted to a sector of the population so vulnerable, whose cognitive processes and preconceived ideas still continue to be formed, said the Councilor for Equality.

The study of the adult population has a mixed methodology, both quantitative and qualitative, and the survey conducted a series of in-depth interviews to women who have suffered situations of abuse, which show the reproduction of the problem of a Generation to another, until the rupture with the same.

This rupture goes through a process of awareness of the unacceptability of that reality, which gradually leads to the attempt to end the conflict.

In this process, a professional external assistance, such as that offered by the Centers for Victim Assistance (CAVI), is essential.

The whole vision of this problematic that facilitated these studies, points to the need, according to the Councilor, to design and implement in the municipality of Cartagena an Equality Plan that serves to prevent, combat and eliminate any hint of inequality that Lead to a situation of gender violence.

Thus, he announced that with this objective, the Council of Equality will soon meet with all political parties represented, and the participation of women's associations and groups, such as platform 8 March.
