A Journey of preservation of the Amateur Cinema will show authors and works of Cartagena recorded in Century XX (22/11/2016)

In the second half of the twentieth century there was an outbreak of citizens of Cartagena who approached the cinema in small format with the making of fiction films, documentaries or animation.

The Department of Culture of the City of Cartagena, has contributed with the historian Sergio Martinez and photographer Salvador Vivancos to recover the films recorded by different authors of Cartagena during this time to project them and give them visibility in a day of preservation of Amateur Cinema.

For this day, which complements the FICC in favor of cultural dynamism, 200 films have been collected from different Carthaginian authors, such as Joaquín Villalba and José García Vaso, as well as descendants, as well as some films that have been donated by the Municipal Archives.

Among the genres are fiction, documentaries, cartoons or even experimental cinema.

The Councilor for Culture, David Martínez, the historian Sergio Martínez and the photographer Salvador Vivancos, have been in charge of giving all the details of this Day of Preservation of Amateur Cinema.

The Day of Preservation of Amateur Cinema, entradagratuita, will take place on November 30 in the Aula Caja Mediterráneo from 18:00 hours and can view these films for more than an hour.

Subsequently, a round table will be held from the hand of various authors on Amateur Cinema.

The Councilor for Culture, David Martinez, has indicated that these films are a great source to be able to study the history of Cartagena and how it was, the facts, people who happened and lived in those years in the municipality, and that the goal is power Retrieve them, digitize them so that they are not lost and make them available to the public.

The historian, Sergio Martínez, has advanced that among these films will be able to see a football match between the Cartagena team and Real Murcia, visits of the king to Cartagena, a report of La Manga in the year 1981, or a documentary titled Portman Unpublished showing the ecological disaster of the Bay of Portman.
