The Cartagena Municipal Laboratory reviews its 125 years of history in an exhibition. During the day of Tuesday 22 November will be held, in addition to the inauguration of the exhibition with materials and images of this laboratory, a round table wh (21/11/2016)

The Municipal Laboratory of Cartagena turns 125 years;

And to celebrate it, on Tuesday, November 22, different acts will be carried out to review the history of this Municipal Service, from an exhibition to a round table, to engage the citizens of the work that has been developing for so many years in this laboratory, located in the Plaza San Agustín.

The events have been presented by the Mayor of Cartagena, José López, the Councilor for the Quality of Life and Health Area, Francisco Calderón, and the Councilor for Citizen Security, Francisco Aznar, and have been organized by the City of Cartagena, Municipal Archive and the Municipal Laboratory of Cartagena.

An exhibition will show through various materials and documents the evolution of the Municipal Laboratory, which has always been a tool of the Administration in the exercise of its responsibilities in the area of ​​health control of water, even before the Instruction of Health of January 12 Of 1904. In its trajectory has evolved, according to the demands and society, and in function of the changes of the legislative norms, facilitating their fulfillment and defending the interests in the service of the community that represents.

The inauguration will take place on Tuesday at 19:00 hours by the hand of the mayor, José López, and the Councilor for Health, Francisco Calderón, in the Municipal Archive.

Free entry, it will remain open until January 20, 2017 from Monday to Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 1:45 p.m., and Tuesday and Wednesday also with afternoon time from 5:00 p.m. to 7:45 p.m.

As pointed out by the mayor, José López, this exhibition will serve to know a municipal tool unknown to many but of extraordinary importance because it has been monitoring our health for 125 years.

Among the elements that can be found in this exhibition is the laboratory regulation, municipal bands related to the epidemics of the nineteenth and twentieth or documents on welfare and health.

In addition it is going to expose a photographic collection and laboratory material that makes clear the evolution of this laboratory, as pointed by the mayor Francisco Aznar.

On the other hand, the same Tuesday will be held the round table 125 years of history;

The Municipal Laboratory of Cartagena in the Municipal Archive.

Through different presentations of the professionals of the sector, will be treated the vision of the laboratory after 125 years, the public health in Cartagena during the restoration and the figure of Dr. Leopoldo Cándido or Public Health and the Industrial Revolution among other subjects.

The mayor of Sanidad, Francisco Calderón, after making a brief review of the foundation and first steps of the Municipal Laboratory, a municipal service of the City of Cartagena, recalled that within their current competences of water control include those of drinking water Human, treated and packaged, pools, wells and reservoirs, marine waters, wastewater or discharges.

The mayor, José López, responding to questions from journalists has also spoken at the press conference of the priority projects that he has transmitted to the Ministry of Finance for Cartagena, and the recovery of the Central Cinema.
