The Muram of Cartagena pays homage to the Japanese cinema with the exhibition of Nicole Palacios' HirosiMA mon amour' (18/11/2016)

The Ministry of Culture and Portavocía opens today (20:30 hours) in the Regional Museum of Modern Art of Cartagena the exhibition 'HiroshiMA mon amour', with which the French creator settled in the port city Nicole Palacios pays homage to Japanese cinema.

In total, 35 works are exhibited in this exhibition project that this morning has been presented by the Director General of Cultural Heritage, Maria Comas, and the artist herself.

Comas declared that "the Muram now offers the opportunity to discover to those who do not know the work of Nicole Palacios, who from the frames of the cinema creates new narrations and works of a singular beauty."

In addition, he added, "the vast majority of the works exhibited at the Regional Museum of Modern Art have been created exclusively for this exhibition, which endows it with a special interest."

The title of the sample refers to the Franco-Japanese production of 1959 directed by Alain Resnais.

'Hiroshi (MA)' refers to one of the great directors of Japanese cinema as Hiroshi Teshigahara (1927-2001), author of 'Woman of the Sand' (1964), and also remembers Ang Lee and 'Eat, drink, love' (1994).

Of these films, Palacios collects frames that incorporates in his compositions, inviting to enter the visitor of a direct form to his creative and emotional universe.

The works of Nicole Palacios range from the intervention with mixed techniques on board until the silkscreen and the photographic manipulation.

In his compositions he is present the transferred drawing, the painting and the iconic images, and his creations are fruit of the investigation and the processes developed in his long artistic trajectory.

The seal of Palacios is the use of flat inks and bright colors, influence of the design, and his work can be inscribed in the revisionist current of pop, where he puts special emphasis in the world of the cinema.

In his new exhibition, he brings together references of Japanese cinema with techniques such as the transfer of images and frames with which he gets a gear as a great collage creating a new narration.

'HiroshiMA mon amour' can be visited in the Muram until January 15 from Tuesday to Friday, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

On Saturdays, from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., and on Sundays and public holidays, from 11:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m.

María Comas recalled that, "at the moment, visitors who come to the Muram will also be able to enjoy the exhibition of Charris 'Cosmolocalistas', which is now joined by Palacios, showing the commitment to contemporary art and the Creators of the Region that is being made from the Muram and that is having a great reception by the public, since during the first ten months of the year more than 17,000 people have passed through Cartagena Museum, a record number that has already doubled With more than 2015 total visitors.

Conference on accessibility in the Muram

Also in the Muram of Cartagena will close its doors this Sunday the exhibition 'The world flows', organized by Culture and the ONCE Foundation.

In it are exhibited some thirty pieces, many tactile, created by artists with disabilities or with some mental illness and also by others without any disability, but who approach through their work.

As a culmination of the exhibition, tomorrow will take place at 11:00 am, an inclusive workshop and there will also be guided tours at 12:30 p.m. and at 5:30 p.m. and Sunday, at 12:30 p.m.

On the occasion of the closing of this exhibition, the Muram will also host, on Monday, the Day of Accessibility 'Designing cities and towns for all people', organized by the ACS Foundation, the ONCE Foundation and the Region of Murcia CERMI in collaboration with The Ministry of Culture.

The conference, aimed at cultural and tourism managers and programmers, will address themes such as 'accessibility in urbanism and building', 'accessible tourism' and 'accessible leisure'.
