FREMM and UPCT collaborate to strengthen presence of metal SMEs in the market (16/11/2016)

The president of the Regional Federation of Metalworkers of Murcia (FREMM), Juan Antonio Muñoz, and the rector of the Universidad Politécnica de Cartagena (UPCT), Alejandro Díaz, have signed a collaboration agreement to develop joint actions that facilitate the transfer Of knowledge, training and employment between the university and metal SMEs.

The event was attended by the general director of Universities, Juan Mozón Cabrera, representatives of the UPCT and metal entrepreneurs, as well as the general secretary of FREMM, Andrés Sánchez.

The agreement is signed within a changing technological environment of cooperation and where university research is a support to reinforce the presence of companies in a global market.

For the president of Metal, the agreement "reflects the excellent disposition between university-company to bet on a productive model, based on science, innovation and technology.

Scope of the agreement

Collaboration to meet the challenge of the Metal Industry 4.0 is an outstanding path in the signed document, given the revolution that SMEs in the sector face in the short term.

It will also be possible to propose projects related to this technological transformation to the META-COOPERATION Cluster.

The agreement also opens the door for the sector federation and its related companies to propose topics that can be addressed by the students of the UPCT in their end-of-grade or master's work, subject to the signing of a specific agreement that includes intellectual property Of the results.

Likewise, it contemplates the performance of UPCT student practices in programs and centers of FREMM and in companies of the metal members.

Both parties have agreed on joint advice, research and training activities in the field of the metal sector.

To this end, it is planned to carry out or jointly finance studies and research projects, as well as cooperation in dissemination and social awareness programs in the metal sector.

The agreement is signed for two years renewable.

Compliance will be monitored by a joint monitoring committee.
