MC considers that the regional government has in the next budgets an opportunity to begin to attend to the districts and councils of Cartagena (10/11/2016)

In the last municipal plenary sessions, initiatives have been approved that demand that the CARM Government take into account, in the preparation of the Regional Budgets of 2017, the necessary financing for districts and councils of Cartagena from the funds of Local Cooperation for the Improvement of Works and Services.

The president and spokesman of MC, Jesus Giménez, said that "the fact that it is a reality assumed by all, does not make it less serious. It is time for the Executive of Pedro Antonio Sanchez to remember our neighborhoods and councils, Which for many years have not received what they deserve for the development of basic services. "And that has only one cause, the long disinterest of the different regional governments for this municipality, its neighborhoods and councils.

MC advocates for the quality of services and an efficient decentralization in the councils of the municipality where 35% of the total population of the same is concentrated, being aggrieved by part of the regional Government in spite of the efforts of the City council to compensate this mistreatment through Budgetary allocations to the Neighborhood Boards, in addition to the provision of services carried out by the local administration.

The regional government has already announced, through the Minister of Finance, that "it has fixed the guidelines of the project of regional budgets".

In addition, the media have reported the agreement of the Regional Assembly Spokesmen's Meeting that sets the timetable for the debate of the Regional Budgets of 2017, and it is planned to start the same with the Plenary on the ceiling of spending.

In this context, Giménez has argued, "from MC we require that one of these guidelines is to allocate funds, either from the Local Cooperation Fund or from different departments, to the City of Cartagena, to be able to pay basic services that come Denying it from the Autonomous Community. "

"This is an economic and legal obligation to the municipality of Cartagena and we believe that the time has come for it to be fulfilled," concluded MC spokesman.
