DIABETES

According to Sodicar, diabetes is a complex disease, characterized by a concentration of blood sugar.

Treatment is not only about normalizing blood sugar levels but also trying to normalize body weight and control other cardiovascular risk factors such as cholesterol and hypertension.

There are two types of diabetes:

Type 1 DM affects the younger population and is due to the fact that the pancreas does not produce insulin and therefore requires the daily administration of this hormone.

Insulin helps glucose enter the cell to provide energy.

Without insulin there is an excess of glucose that remains in the blood.

The symptoms are: excessive thirst, frequent urination, hunger, eating a lot and yet losing weight, tiredness ...

Type 2 DM is the most frequent, affecting 90-95% of diagnosed cases and is characterized by insufficient insulin production and / or inadequate insulin utilization.

This type of diabetes is asymptomatic and can be years of evolution without the person detecting it.
