The inauguration took place on Friday, October 28, at the Palace Hall and was attended by the Councillor of Culture of the City of Cartagena, David Martinez and second deputy mayor, Francisco Calderon;

Then he went over to Roman Theatre Museum to end the evening at the Caja Murcia Foundation.

The exhibition represents a lifetime dedicated to the world of painting since Navarro, despite his early death at the age of 53, had conducted an extensive and diverse work both stand as a portrait and stressed, in turn, as a muralist .

That is why we are going to use three spaces to give each one its own specificity within the framework of its diverse artistic production.

At the Palace Hall of Cartagena will be represented all his work trestle, from the beginning of learning to abstract painting and his later drawings.

The murals will be exhibited at the Museum of the Roman Theatre, artificial stone, marble and tile in the city of Cartagena.

This space will also house a selection of sketches, photographs of large format and partial installation of a mural author.

One of its most representative facets as a painter, portrait, you can admire Cartagena at the headquarters of the Cultural Center Caja Murcia Foundation.

LIFE AND WORK OF ENRIQUE NAVARRO

The painter Enrique Gabriel Navarro was born in Cartagena in 1927 and died in 1980. Navarro is a leading artist of the Region of Murcia who left a unique mark on the city of Cartagena as a painter, muralist, teacher and as a dynamic figure of life culture in the city, mainly in the period of democratic transition in our country.

The Government of Spain awarded the Silver Medal for Artistic Merit shortly before his death and also is favorite son of the city of Cartagena.

The artist died at age 53, when he was in a position to offer the best of itself, as it has rightly expressed the critic Santiago Amon: a painter who came to die when he was, as so often happens with the key enigma.

His artistic life was therefore short and yet fruitful.

He jumped domain between different aesthetic tendencies, without neglecting any.

To his credit they include fully figurative works, in addition to expressionistic, neofauvistas and abstract;

for the latter it is more recognized and valued.

An abstraction that has been defined as peaceful, serene, without fanfare, with endless nuances rich, deep tones and textures suggestive.

Student, like so many cartageneros artists, Vicente Ros, the Carthaginian painter who, in turn, was a disciple of Wssell Guimbarda, who in 1931 founded a study in which most contemporary cartageneros painters of very different styles were formed and trends.

Enrique Gabriel Navarro then completed studies at the Academy of Fine Arts of San Fernando in Madrid, and later in Valencia, and met the latest trends in avant-garde art in creative competitions in Italy and in his visit to France.

Enrique Gabriel Navarro left excellent examples of his work as a muralist, both individually and as works closely with fellow painter Ramon Alonso Luzzy.

He also left a large piece of portraits of exceptional quality through which he expressed his expertise in the study of the human figure and the varied hues of humanity of his characters.
