The UPCT sponsors three winners of the World Robotics Olympiad WRO (27/10/2016)

The Polytechnic University of Cartagena (UPCT) wants to support with their sponsorship work Alba Sanchez, Rebecca and Barbara Bernabeu Meseguer;

three girls aged 9 to 10 years of school Nebrija, team members Ed Robotic Girls and flamboyant winners of the national final of the World Championships of Robotics WRO held in Logroño in September and attended by more than 20,000 school.

The three girls in fifth grade showed a prototype truck tire shredding, made with Lego pieces, which optimizes the transport and to alternative uses recycled rubber.

The robot won first prize in the category of scientific projects and the three girls represent Spain in the international final to be held in Delhi (India) from 25 to 27 November.

UPCT support the three girls helping them defray their travel expenses.

Minor started in robotics as a game watching his older brothers, commented his teacher Alberto Bernabeu.

His daughter and student, Rebecca Bernabeu, believes that robotics "is a way to learn many things."

Alba Sánchez supposed to learn how to create and build, "imagining how we want things and we do."

Meseguer Barbara confesses that he likes lego pieces that let you create, "if you have imagination can do really cool stuff."

In addition to the articulated truck tire recycling, the three girls have designed a prototype guardrail to minimize impacts in case of accidents.

The invention "absorbs shock and protects from damage because current bounce towards the roadway," qualifies the teacher.

The rector, Alejandro Diaz, has received the members of the school team Nebrija in the building of the Rectory.

The Polytechnic develops an important teaching and research in robotics.

Just this year, the UPCT has attracted Dr. Oscar Martinez, researcher greater excellence in the Ramón y Cajal call Cartagena has chosen to develop research in artificial intelligence and bioengineering.

The World Robot Olympiad is an educational competition at international level in which young people have the opportunity to learn and demonstrate their ability to solve problems.

Its objectives are to promote creativity, improve their communication skills and teamwork, expand the vision of young people on science and technology and encourage them to be future scientists, engineers and inventors.
