MC regrets that no progress in water solutions field Cartagena (17/09/2016)

The water will still depend on rain and solidarity among irrigators while not act with courage and determination by the central and regional executives.

In the heart of last week, MC asked the central government relief irrigation for agriculture in the field of Cartagena, which was approved with the accession of other local groups.

Following this declaration and the mobilization of farmers from the Regional Assembly yesterday three on the water needs of farmers measures, namely 10 were announced by the Tejerina minister and the president of the CARM, with great dramatization, 4 extra hm3, the extension of the decrees of drought and boost infrastructure in Torrevieja desalination plants and Valdelentisco.

According to Jesus Gimenez, president of MC, "the important thing is not the staging, but the specificity and usefulness of the measures and the plane of reality approved yesterday does not pose an additional irrigation are scarce, and future compliance and uncertain. We regret that, once again, and in an emergency situation for our fields, central and regional governments spend the powder in salvos ".

"Obviously we are happy to get some water to the field of Cartagena, as the shortage or absence of water quality is at the root of the major problems affecting the environment and the agricultural sector in our region, but the truth is that our region will not reach, according to our calculations, more than 3 hm3, and a water, the Estremera and Poveda, with which already had our farmers, so no watering relief, "the spokesman MC.

Therefore, the only useful measure is the extension of drought decree, whose virtuality depend on rain and the situation of the headwaters of the Tagus reservoirs is maintained.

Jesus Gimenez indicates that "we can not celebrate the announcements of future commitments and continue to claim present solutions, stable and not dependent on rain or solidarity between the communities of irrigators of the transfer, which have also appealed from MC" .

"This is because while politicians are not able to connect the basins and implement national solidarity with an essential commodity like water, irrigators themselves the are showing and hope to remain so, because it will give a lesson to politicians" he concludes.

MC will continue to demand with farmers for water quality activity vital to our town and the region.

They are insisting that these policy decisions go through draft and not the result of timely patches pressure.
