The mayor demands that we clarify whether data quality water desalination plant tailings were handled (28/06/2016)

In the morning it has been known that a former worker of the desalination plant tailings said in his statement given on 16 June against agents of the Protection of Nature (SEPRONA) the meter arsenic in the desalination plant was manipulated voluntarily for years in order to consistently deliver the same data.

Given this fact, the mayor of Cartagena, Jose Lopez, said that if the project of the desalination plant was a murky affair from the beginning, the revelations that we know what becomes a major scandal.

It is no longer about the doubts about his award, its management, its price or its usefulness;

it is the health of people.

The mayor has stated that if before it was forced to clarify whether the water that was taken was the right, it is now essential to clarify citizens if the controls were appropriate and if provided for human consumption uncontrolled water voluntary mud and could contain arsenic.

Jose Lopez recalled that months ago in Cartagena decided not consume water whose quality was in doubt.

So I sent a message of reassurance to the population, but also one of firmness, as I will continue to work with prosecutors and courts in everything needed to clarify this matter.

Also as mayor and director of the Port Authority I demand a public explanation to all parties involved, whether technical, political and companies in the cycle of water from the desalination plant have consumed Cartagena, finished the mayor.
