Family reinforces the attention to women victims of gender violence in Cartagena (14/05/2016)

The Minister of Family and Equal Opportunities, Violante Thomas, yesterday visited the Specialty Care Center for Women Victims of Violence (CAVI) of Cartagena, which this year has a budget of 56,394 euros, 8,000 more than in 2015, and the house shelters for battered women, the Ministry financed 38.000 euros.

The Minister noted that "the regional government's priority attention to victims of gender violence in the city of Cartagena, as evidenced by the budgetary injection of this year. Overall, he said, "this year will allocate more than one million euros to the maintenance of the Network of centers for women victims of gender violence. The endowment represents an increase of 19 percent compared to the budget in 2015 , which amounted to 845,000 euros. "

the services provided in current CAVI centers will be strengthened and become Specialized Care Points (SAPs) in full CAVI centers, and for Santomera Torre Pacheco, according to user demand.

In Cartagena CAVI he was attended from January to August last year, a total of 146 women.

He received an average of 18 women each month, which were paid more than 1,000 services related to social, psychological and legal assistance.

The floor host is intended to provide the care needed by women victims of violence and their children over a period of time, usually four to six months.

The service provides not only accommodation and meals, but the necessary guidance on social, labor, health and educational fields, as part of comprehensive care is provided.

In the past year, from January to August, they were received in the shelter of Cartagena six women and 13 minors.

The Regional Resource Network CAVI has 21 centers that guarantee specialized women victims of gender violence in the 45 municipalities in the region care and urgent care resources as the only telephone 1-1-2 and the Center Emergency Coordination.

The total amount of aid for the entire region also includes 192,000 euros for the maintenance of the existing host five houses in Murcia, Cieza, Lorca, Cartagena and Molina de Segura.

"The fight against gender violence is critical to make legal equality between women and men in real equality. In the next month a new Emergency Center women victims of gender violence will be created to serve more than 200 women and offer them a safe home.
