Cartagena hosts a meeting of Ilustradas cities (12/05/2016)

The Palace Hall has welcomed today, May 12, an extraordinary meeting of the International Association of Cities and Entities of the Enlightenment to which belongs Cartagena.

This meeting prepared the eleventh annual meeting of the association to be held on 13, 14 and 15 octubreen the Portuguese city of Covilha and which will discuss the topic Knowledge and mercantilism.

The meeting was also attended by the Councillor for Culture, David Martinez.

In addition to Cartagena Spanish cities represented in this forum they have been Barcelona, ​​Valencia and Ferrol;

to which they have been joined by the Portuguese Vila Real de Santo António, Covilha and Coimbra.

Representatives of the cities that make up the association have made a tour of the facilities of the Town Hall of the hand of the director of Culture, Fulgencia Plazas, and afternoon have continued to know the rich cultural heritage of the city of Cartagena, between they illustrated the heritage from the time of Carlos III.

Among the points that made up the agenda highlighted the presentation of a website of the association, lacreación a network of exchanges and cultural actions AICEI and the ratification of new socioscolaboradores as the Royal Academy of Fine Arts of San Carlos and Valencia.

INTERNATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF CITIES AND ENTITIES OF ILLUSTRATION

The International Association of Cities and Entities of the Enlightenment, AICEI, is a meeting point for the cities created and developed during the Enlightenment, inspired by the functional design and the rationality of its buildings, whether treated naval cities, courtier, commercial or stocking origin.

Its aim is to promote awareness and protection of the eighteenth century inherited projection and reflection in the XXI century tangible and intangible heritage.

This association holds an annual meeting that make up the soul of the association and that through them we reflect, is investigated and contributes about one or more specific aspects of the Enlightenment movement, from a scientific, academic and experimental view.
