On Saturday, May 14, at 20.30, the monument will open the Spanish Infante Marina, in the Plaza del Rey Cartagena.
The act of military stamp, has been promoted by the Spanish Federation of Associations of Veterans Marine Corps and organized by the Spanish Armada, in collaboration with the City.
The ceremony will be preside by the general commander of the Marine Corps, Major General Jesus Manuel Vicente Fernandez, and the mayor of Cartagena, Jose Lopez Martinez.
With this monument, made by popular subscription, it will attempt to pay tribute to the Marines, one of the oldest units that exist in the city.
This is a statue to real size of a Marine parading by the sculptor Jorge Aznar and will add to other figures characteristic of the Armed Forces as the Soldier of the Army and the Sailor Replacement with which already has the nearby city of Cavite Heroes square.
