The loss of Cuba for Spain represented a historical trauma of seismic proportions whose effects lasted long in popular memory.

Cuba was the American country closest to Spain by culture, idiosyncrasies and coexistence for more than four centuries, but perhaps because the memory of the wound was so painful, the void caused by the abandonment not left important literary echoes in the novels of this part of the Atlantic.

The last of Cuba comes to remedy the lack of works on what led to the loss of this Spanish island.

As a habanera round, develops parallel stories ranging from the social portrait intrigue since the mid-nineteenth century to the second half of the twentieth century.

The benchmark thread of this novel joins Spain and Cuba in a historical frame in which no shortage of grotesque features and in which bishops, diplomats, spies obligation, figureheads of the intelligentsia and other characters from varied catadura intermingle, encouraging the fictional story.
