The Woman March this year will support research into a rare disease (09/05/2016)

Niemann Pick;

that is the name that members of the homonymous Foundation and the City of Cartagena, along with other partners, seek to give visibility through the new edition of March Women to be held in the streets of the city on Thursday May 26.

Deputy Mayor, Ana Belén Castejon, accompanied by the mayor of Equality, David Martinez, presented this morning the details of this event has not only sporty but also solidarity and coexistence, as each year raises funds for any non profit profit.

This time it is the turn of the Niemann Pick Foundation, which works nationally for 15 years to try to mitigate the effects of this rare disease to those who suffer and to encourage such research.

The objective, as commented the delegate of the Foundation of the Autonomous Community level, M.ª Isabel Esteban, is to continue working in this work in which they are pioneers worldwide.

He has reported his case, as it was mother of a child who died 7 years, but stressed that now will have two cases in the Region of young people suffering from this disease.

REGISTRATIONS

Those interested in participating may register at the Department of Equality, which is located on the second floor of the building Milgrosa.

The option is also open in those associations that participate in the march and elpropio day of the event at the Plaza of Spain.

The price is one euro and the proceeds will be donated to the Niemann Pick Foundation.

TRAVEL

The development of the march will begin at 10.00 pm in the Plaza of Spain and tour the Alameda de San Anton, Street Sebastián Ferigán and Highway Tentegorra to finish at the Rafael Parque de la Cerda, where you will enjoy a coexistence with various activities which will include a raffle.

From the park and upon completion of the activities, will buses from 18.00 to take participants to the starting point.

NIEMANN PICK

The Foundation brings together some 40 families from all over Spain and was created in 2001. This rare disease is unaacumulación cholesterol in the brain that degenerates the person and can cause seizures, ataxias or dysfunctions in speech.

Globally are pioneers in the study of carriers on the population of the same geographical area and have been described carrying genes previously unknown disease, with results that have been published internationally.
